Dainty/small sterling silver 4.5mm crystal representation birthstone pendant, on either a 14" fine trace chain or a 16" or 18" fine curb chain, which will come nicely presented in a gift box. 

By the very nature of sterling silver, there is no way to protect it from tarnishing because sterling silver reacts with so many materials found in everyday life. The best way to reduce tarnish build-up is to actually wear your sterling silver jewellery often. When sterling silver is not worn it tarnishes quickly. Unavoidable I'm afraid, but perfectly normal and nothing to be concerned by, and it can easily be removed with a silver polishing cloth or polishing cream.
